What is a timed typing test?
A timed typing test measures how much text you can type within a fixed time limit. It is designed for clear WPM benchmarking, typing speed comparison, accuracy tracking, and daily keyboard practice. The fixed timer makes results easy to compare between 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute, 5 minute, 8 minute, and 10 minute tests.
How to use the timed typing test
Choose a time mode, press Start typing test, click the typing area, and type the displayed words as accurately as possible. The countdown starts when you begin typing. You can restart at any time, enable keyboard sounds, or switch to the advanced custom typing test for more options.
How timed typing test results are calculated
The result page reports WPM, CPM, KPM, accuracy, elapsed time, backspaces, correct characters, incorrect characters, missed characters, and entered characters. WPM is based on correct characters divided by five and normalized per minute. Accuracy is based on correct typed characters compared with entered characters, so both speed and precision affect the final score.
